Cape Fear Museum


Cape Fear Museum collects, preserves and interprets objects relating to the history, science and cultures of the Lower Cape Fear.

Cape Fear Museum of History and Science is a cultural resource for the Wilmington community and visitors. The Museum features a permanent exhibition called Cape Fear Stories that explores the region’s rich and complex history. Other permanent exhibitions include Space Place (an interactive experience inspired by the International Space Station), Michael Jordan Discovery Gallery (discover ecosystems within the region), Williston Auditorium (learn about the only high school for African Americans in New Hanover County) and more. Traveling exhibitions rotate approximately every 4 to 6 months in two gallery spaces. The Museum also features an outdoor park with interactive ways to explore and enjoy nature.
